MEET YOU THERE.
PFC MONTHLY MEETINGS

Who Attends These Meetings?
Am I Invited?!
Yes! If you are an adult (parent, foster parent, guardian, grandparent...) who cares for an Orchard Lane student, we'd love to have you attend our meetings. The PFC Board members facilitate meetings. Our principal often gives updates and occasionally teachers will share information or make requests.

How big of a time commitment is this?
-
Because most parents' free time is in short supply, we know that not everyone will have time to attend monthly meetings. There are often a core group of PFC members who attend regularly each year and others who make just one or a few meetings. That's perfectly fine! You decide on your level of involvement based on your schedule, energy levels, or other life circumstances.

-
Do you really want *me* to attend?
-
YES! We really want you to attend. You could be a parent, foster parent, grandparent, guardian, whatever. If there's a child you love and care for attending Orchard Lane, you are welcome to attend meetings and get involved in the PFC. A special note to Dads: While many dads volunteer for single day events, most of the ongoing planning, organizing, idea generating, decision making, and general PFC making-it-happen work is done by moms. Men, if you've been waiting for an invitation, this is it -- join us! We welcome your participation.

What Are PFC Meetings Like?
Do I Need to Volunteer?
Our co-presidents typically run the meetings, but allow plenty of time for others' input too. We follow an agenda and are mostly focused on discussing upcoming activities and events, though we may also hear updates about how fundraisers are coming along or how we are spending our money. Sometimes we make decisions and plans as a large group and other times we ask for individuals or small groups of people to prepare for an event outside of the general meeting time. (For example, we might ask a small group of people to plan and organize our Teacher Appreciation week.) We are lucky when we have members who take the lead on something for multiple years in a row (such as a point person for our Scholastic Book Fairs) and can train new volunteers to lead when the time comes.

Attending meetings keeps you in-the-know about what's happening at school and what PFC events are on the horizon. Sate your curiosity and attend meetings just to see what we're up to and hear our discussions. We promise not to pressure you to join a committee. (Though we would certainly be happy if you did.) If you want to be more involved, bring your ideas and enthusiasm and be ready to answer the call for additional planning and volunteering as the need arises. The stronger we are as a group, with more active member participation, the better we can serve our Orchard Lane community.
